Dr. Seema Puri

Designation: Associate Professor

Educational Qualifications:M.Sc. (Food and Nutrition); Ph.D.(Nutrition)

Experience:Dr Seema Puri is Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition. She has a PhD in nutrition (Delhi University) and has undergone specialized trainings in Global Health Research and Social Gerontology. She has been conferred the Distinguished Services Award 2010 by the Geriatric Society of India.

She has over 30 years of teaching and research experience and has supervised MSc /PhD research of many students. Her research interests include geriatric nutrition, child health and nutrition and micronutrient malnutrition. She has undertaken projects funded by World Bank, UNICEF, MI, DST, GSK, PepsiCo.

She has presented papers at numerous national/ international conferences and has over 40 publications to her credit. She has also undertaken short term consultancies for WFP, WHO SEARO and UNICEF. She is a member of several academic bodies including IFHE, IFA NSI, IDA, HSAI, AGI, IAG, ARDSI.

Dr Tejmeet Rekhi

Designation: Associate Professor

Educational Qualifications:B.Ed.,M.Sc. (Food and Nutrition),Ph.D. (Nutrition)

Experience:Dr Tejmeet Rekhi joined this Institute in 1983 and was initially involved in various projects (National /International) funded by UNICEF, Ford Foundation, IDRC, ICMR, DST, Ministry of Education. Subsequently, she joined the teaching stream and has been teaching various courses to under graduate and post graduate students such as Food and Nutrition, Food Science and Institutional Food Management. She has also guided several M.Sc. dissertations. She has done her doctorate on the Mid-day meal programme and supplementary feeding component of ICDS. She has also been involved in the Third Party Evaluation of the Mid-day meal programme. Her areas of interest are Supplementary feeding programmes, Food Hygiene and Food Safety, Recipe Development. She has presented oral and poster papers in many national and international organizations. She is an author / co-author for some books related to her field. She is a life member of Nutrition Society of India, Indian Dietetic Association and Home Science Association of India.

Ms. Shipra Gupta

Designation: Assistant Professor (Senior scale)

Educational Qualifications:B.Ed. (University of Delhi); M.Sc. Food and Nutrition

Experience:Ms. Gupta joined the Delhi University in 1999 and has been teaching various nutrition courses to under-graduate and post-graduate students of Home Science; Food and Nutrition; Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition; and Social Gerontology since then. She is a recipient of FNP scholarship (2003) conferred jointly by the Kingdom of Netherlands and Food and Agriculture Organization to participate in a course in Programme Planning and Management in Philippines. Ms. Gupta has guided several M.Sc. dissertations; undertaken research projects; and contributed chapters and modules for different courses of IGNOU and National Institute of Open Schooling. Some of her areas of interest are macro and micronutrient deficiencies, programme planning, development of nutrition education modules and food labelling.

Bani Tamber Aeri

Designation: Assistant Professor

Educational Qualifications:Ph.D. (Nutrition)

Experience:Bani Tamber Aeri has been associated with the Institute since 2004 and is teaching normal and therapeutic nutrition at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Having worked in the area of maternal nutrition as part of the Ph.D work, she is interested in working on issues related to improving maternal nutrition particularly micronutrient malnutrition and thereby improving the pregnancy outcome; as well as working on lifestyle related disorders and finding solutions for preventing them. She has guided several M.Sc. Dissertations and is now guiding Ph.D. students. She was awarded the Malaspina International Scholar Travel Award in 2015 at the Annual Conference of International Life sciences Institute (ILSI) at Arizona in 2015.

Ms. Archana Bhagat

Designation: Assistant Professor (Senior Scale)

Educational Qualifications:M.Sc. (Food and Nutrition) DU, M.Phil .(Community Health), JNU

Experience:Ms Archana Bhagat has been teaching in the college since 1996. Prior to joining the institute, she taught at Lady Irwin College for five years. She has been teaching various facets of Foods and Nutrition to students pursuing post-graduate, Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition and under-graduate programmes. She has guided several M.Sc. dissertations and written chapters for CSIR. She has also conducted classes in Nutrition and Health Education for the School of Open Learning, DU and for the Masters program in Food Service Management of IGNOU. Her areas of interest lie in the field of Institutional Food Management, Therapeutic Nutrition especially diabetes and Product development. She is the recipient of the National Scholarship of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the ICAR Fellowship for research for post-graduate studies.

Dr. Rajni Chopra

Designation: Assistant Professor

Educational Qualifications:Ph.D (Biochemistry) CFTRI, Mysore

Experience:Dr. Rajni has joined University of Delhi in 2008 and has been teaching Food Science courses to under- graduate and post-graduate students of Home Science since then. She received ICAR- JRF for pursuing M.Sc degree and UGC-JRF & SRF for pursuing Ph.D degree. Dr. Rajni Chopra has published six research papers in international journals, presented various papers in the national and international conferences, process patented and guided two M.Sc. dissertations. She has expertise in various research techniques like HPLC, LCMS, GC, GC-MS, Mass Spectrometry, platelet aggregometer, basic Lipid, protein extraction and purification techniques, enzyme assays and interesterification, nutritional and Biochemical techniques (cholesterol analysis, lipid peroxidation, lipid profiling, antioxidant enzyme assays) and handling of experimental animals. Her area of interest is to work and excel in the field of Food Science and Technology by undertaking research works.

Ms. Deepshikha Kataria

Designation: Assistant Professor

Educational Qualifications:M.Sc. Food & Nutrition, Delhi University, PG Diploma in Food Safety & Quality Management, IGNOU

Experience:Ms. Deepshikha has been teaching in the college since 2009. Her areas of interest are food safety, food processing, food science and quality control. She has guided M.Sc. dissertation titled ‘A study on GHP of unorganized dairies and their effect on product quality’. Prior to joining the college she has worked with Food Safety & Standards Authority of India, MOHFW as Research Associate. She did a project on “Shelf life and ripening behavior of mangoes (five varieties)” supported by Bharti Del Monte Pvt. Ltd. She is a life member of Nutrition Society of India (NSI).
